Interesting

HMM, Seems that our Indiana lawmakers withdrew a bill to test welfare and unemployment recipients for drugs when a writer was attached to it to test lawmakers too. Very Interesting, hipocritical Republicans? Nah couldn't be.

Change

Change can be good but it can also be a disaster. The new Mayor is in office less than a month and we have wireless for the town cut, insurance services changed, a donated building for Parks reappropriated, the Police Board recommendations not accepted, and now the imperial ruling that a department head who doesn't agree with him "improperly" was given the job and must be replaced. This is going to be "fun" time till the next election. I think this is what people warned you about.

Bothering Me

I have resisted writing this for some time now but it seems that time makes this worse. I love Logansport and despite what many think I think this town has a bright future if we can overcome ourselves. We seem to do things that hold us back and cause feelings of hopelessness, things that seem rediculous and makes us dispare. Here are two things that continue to bother me greatly:

What you wish for

Two things to think about have happened recently: Arizona schools are going broke because of the sudden drop in students do to a law to check the citizenship of parents and report it. Alabama farmers are watching their crops rot in the fields because of a get tough state law on illegal aliens and not being able to get Americans to work for the same money.

For what it is worth

I spoke with my sister who lives in Mt Carmel, Illinois the other day and she mentioned something that might aid an organization here and help some people. She, like me, is retired and they own a large camper for camping trips. Like most people, she and her husband don't have the room on their property to winter the camper and the storage facilities are too expensive for them. But the town has found an excellent way to help and something we might want to use.

WHAT???????

It seems that in any conversation online where opinions are expressed there will be a statement which is meant to be taken as an end all and be all to any discussion; what our Founding Fathers, usually Jefferson, said or wrote. Let us take a few minutes to reflect on what they said in the light of truth as to what they did.

Goodbye Old Friend

Copied from FB :Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: - Knowing when to come in out of the rain; - Why the early bird gets the worm; ... - Life isn't always fair; - And maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies, don't spend more than you can earn and adults, not children, are in charge.

Listen Up

I want all the Logansport merchants and the Chamber of Commerce to read this and for once open your ears, before it is too late, and do something.

NO-FAIR FAIR

I, and I tyhink half of Northern Indiana, tried to go to the Cass County Fair last night( July 13, 2011). The Bride and I were in a traffic jam on Davis Road for over 25 minutes just to get to the Fair. Once there, they motioned us to a parking place way out in a hay field while many parking spaces much closer were available but they wouldn't let you have them. I was so far out that with my arm extended I could cover the green exhibition building with my thumb. I have been to the Fair many times and have never seen 1/10 that amount of cars on a Wednesday night.
