Just thought I'd give my two cents *that's what this blogging thing is about, right?* about the movie Swing Vote. It makes a good point, that's for sure. I couldn't help but think about this past weeks vote about the parks and the message that came through loud & clear after that and during this movie.

CONGRATULATIONS JAYCEES. About time that females are included. They do a lot of community service and the way all the clubs are hurting, imagine females will be recruited into all the clubs and not just as an auxilliary member.

Almost sounds like they are recruiting baby sitters? I know I could really be "naughty", but as long as they want the girls, won't be "naughty". They are very important and they do so much work. They even work hard in the event their husband or "mate" is a member.

I saw this article in the paper today, and I thought it would also be a good idea for there to be some bike trails out east on High St. past Yorktown Road. There are quite a few bicyclists that have near misses out that way.

I haven't heard anything lately about the connection of the River Bluff Trail and the Little Turtle Waterway trail. I thought the city (or someone) was supposed to get a million bucks or so for the development of the city trail? I think that a trail system in this city would be a great addition!

I am not sure where exactly this new park is suppose to go in, but I think that it is suppose to go in north of the RBT. The new park would have space for a GRAND entrance to a giant trail around Logansport. What are your thoughts?

Can we talk about this? I don't think it's been mentioned yet on this forum and I'm wondering what you all think about having alcohol at Dykeman and Little Turtle?

As for my family, we'd prefer that it not be in the parks. We've witnessed too many drunken incidents when the Iron Horse still existed and it was pretty disgusting in most cases. Especially w/our small daughter. There were a couple of times we just left. The family atmosphere was ruined by a few people in the beer tent.

Everything I see indicates to me that we are in a recession at the same time that we are having inflation. This was known as stagflation in the 1970s. It is an awful situation. People are out of work, incomes are shrinking, and the cost of everything is going out of sight. What do you think?

Larry, sent a wonderful list of county issues. He has some excellent ideas. I hadn't thought of water quality as an issue. Somewhere in my mind I guess I was thinking most water quality issues had been addressed. I should have known better. I was at a meeting the other evening where they were discussing how to protect the Galveston water supply from leaching at the old Gas Barn. I like the idea of increased inspections and harsher punishments for substandard housing. Consolidation of County and City offices hits on a theme I have been preaching on.

The new members were sworn in last night. As they were taking their oath, I sat in my back row seat and prayed silently for them to be able to stay true to their beliefs and to do what's best for the kids in our community. It was so nice to see new faces eager to do a good job behind that desk.

And of course there are some new changes coming. I'll post the link to the article here so you can take a look. Tell me what you think about it all. I'm excited myself!!

Some people, who don't know me that well, say that I see things through "rose colored glasses" because I am usually positive about most things. I think I am a realist and just see what has to occur in the "natural order" of things. I base this on what I have been taught and found to be absolute truths. The first I learned in many years of schooling.
