Thank You Don CrainI love small town living!
Are We Having Fun Yet?Since I can't seem to bring up anything lately that doesn't end in political controversy, let me try this one: I like to consider myself above average IQ wise, I have had two professional courses in Anger and Stress Management, and I have several friends for support so I figure I should have no problem quitting smoking cigarettes. But I have smoked for 50 years, two packs a day at the, I hope soon to be, end.
DemocratsI think Mr Hawes brings up a very valid point:
New Sewage System or Not.In yesterdays paper there was an article about how the city needs a new sewage system that is going to cost this city $71 million. The cost of that system would be the burden of the citizens of this town. The Mayor didn't say that this was needed, nor did the city council. A government agency, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is telling the city we need this done. The cost of this new system would be start out at an addition of $5 to you LMU bill in 2011 and by 2023 you'l be paying $53.
Signs, The color of Flowers, and Wolf SpidersWarning: This may be long but I am not sure I can adequately cover it with any length or my lack of knowlege. I said here that I volunteered to help Logan's Landing, went to one initial meeting, and felt like I was snubbed because they never contacted me again. The excuse was that the lady who took care of communications took pregnancy leave right after that meeting and I was lost in the shuffle. I thought yeah right, but I do remember the lady was very pregnant and Kado suggested that I give them another try. I did and these are my thoughts.
Flu Shot Or NotWell ofcourse you get the flu shot. Maybe. I thought the question was really easy to answer until I overheard two women, both intelligent, one a grandmother and one a mother, discussing their fears over it. It seems that the fear is that not getting the kids the flu shots (multiple shots is not inspiring confidence) will open the chance the child could die from a preventable flu. Seems an easy choice, but wait.
Liberals won't talk about issues???After reading the guest column by Diana Winings on Sunday, I immediately wished I hadn't. It is quite possible that I'm far more stupid for having done so. I was initially intrigued that a Neocon was finally going to talk about the issues. Alas, all we received was some person complaining about how biased the media is toward the dwindling Conservative movement, war demonstrations in the 60's, and an obvious lack of knowledge between Socialism vs. Totalitarianism vs. Capitalism. AND YET ((((NO))))) ISSUES WERE DISCUSSED! Liberals can't talk about the issues?
Obama's Awardnytimes.com is reporting "President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for “extraordinary efforts” to strengthen global diplomacy and cooperation less than a year after taking office." I can't wait to see what the conservative talking heads will have to say about this.
Property TaxesI hate taxes as most of them seem unfair to me but the tax I hate the most is the property tax. This is the most unfair and counter productive tax that was ever hatched in the festered mind of a public parasite. Why is it unfair?
SNL ~ ARGH!!! ~I read the article in the paper this morning that Sophie Babcock submitted. I must have to say, that there are definitely discrepancies in her story. See, we lived this nightmare last year before the production went on. The skit that she is referring to was called "WTFTV" and was a parody of LHS' LCTV class of which my daughter Olivia is editor.
