opinions please ~I have to ask this question. It's been burning in my brain for years. Something I have never been able to understand, and I'd really like someone to explain it to me. Not being born in Logansport, and coming from another state, I immediately subscribed to the paper when we arrived here. I knew it would be the only way that I would be able to see what is going on in the community in which I lived and be able to participate in happenings here. That was in 1992 and I have never gone a day w/out the paper. Of course now I deliver them so.....
Hats off to our Local PoliceWith all the shortages in our local police department, One would wonder if there is enough police officers to go around. The police chief A.J. Rozzi is doing a great job in making sure that all of Logansport is covered. It is nice to know that all of the officers are pulling together, Regardless of their rank or job description. I say Hats off to ALL of the police officers. God knows in these times that being a police officer isn't what it used to be, A time when you knew everybody, and you could leave your doors unlocked to go to the grocery store. Dress codes ~ updatedThere is an article in todays paper that Fairview may be part of a pilot program for dress codes for LCSC. Here is the link
Also there has been talk up at LHS that there will be no more 1/2 days *PBA days* next school year and that the possibility of year round school isn't that far off. Any opinions about that? Margo
Tea Parties ~have you been hearing about these set for tomorrow *April 15th* and are any of you going? And what do you think about them? Margo
Berkshire files suit against city over alcoholWell, this was suppose to be a banner day for the HPC and historic preservation in the community. The city council passed the second reading for the first five historic single site designations. But, this was all over-shadowed with an announcement by Mike Berkshire that he has filed a lawsuit, on behalf of the citizens of Logansport, regarding the allowance of alcohol at Dykeman Park. He said the city will be getting papers from his attorney, Matthew Barrett, in the mail tomorrow.
RevoltThere is a revolution going on in the United States, a fight to change the way business has been done for many decades. This is because as times have changed the government has not changed with it. Our rules and laws have become outdated and in some way harmful to the very people they were made to protect. The single largest protests I see now and what I think will grow even larger is over taxation.
The PT will be a morning paper as of May 4th w/a 6AM delivery deadline. Will this
Police Officer retires ~This just makes me sad. I wish I had something more intelligent to say about this, but I really don't. And I've hesitated to say anything about this situation at all, but it just makes me sad. Someone who is sworn to uphold the law, breaking it. Sad. Of course I know there isn't much choice about his pension and all, but it seems to me if someone is arrested for theft, that all those other benefits should go out the window, but the same thing happened w/Kathy McKeever, so I guess it's just how things work.
Drug searches ~I know that it has to be done. I know that it's a good thing, but you know, I wish I would have known that the morning was going to be wasted at LHS on Friday w/a lockdown, because I had wanted to keep O home from school that day anyway since she said most of it was going to be spent watching movies. So when I found out that she spent 2 class periods on lockdown, I really wish I would have made that call to keep her home. It just ended up being a wasted day for her. *sigh* But yay!!
Fire at State HospitalLate yesterday afternoon there was a fire at the state hospital. This morning on the radio a fireman said the maintenance building that burned was from 1888, probably an original building to the property, and had at one time been slated to be torn down so he couldn't really put a value on it. How true!
