Newspaper seeking orphanage storiesThe Pharos-Tribune is collecting stories of children who once lived in the old county orphanage. The Logansport Historic Preservation Commission hopes to use the stories in its effort to save the old building. The fate of the structure, one of the oldest in Logansport, has been in doubt since county commissioners decided last year to close the adjoining county home, but it has been deteriorating at least since 2003, when county officials shut down the children’s home and moved the last of the children housed there to the Youth Opportunity Center.
Good StoriesI was watching Brian Williams the other night and he finished the segment by saying that in these times of seemingly bad news he wanted his listeners to send him some stories of kindness in these hard times. I have just read some of the responces he has gotten and I was thinking that good things also happen in Logansport, most that we never hear about, and I think we should recognize some of the good things people are doing here.
ahem.....Sonic opens and ~apparently we're all too backward here in Logansport to know how to drive into a drive in? am I missing something? there are traffic people out there directing people where to go. I'm befuddled and amused all at the same time. I think we'll take a spin to the drive in once it's less busy and maybe once we take the class about using the drive in. *lol* does anyone else find this amusing or am I just warped? ;o) Margo
Little NIPSCO SouthOne of the main selling points for anybody, business or individuals, to choose Logansport has been fairly cheap electrical power. I see that is no longer the case. I just got my new bill and for the second month in a row the LMU bill for the house is over $200. Now I can excuse last month's bill on Christmas lights in December and cold weather but this months bill is even higher than the last bill. I see some lame excuse about the cost of a ton of coal increasing but when amortized across the amount of users there is no excuse for my new bill being this high.
ChangeThe water that does not run, change, becomes stagnent and nothing can live in it. The animal that does not evolve, change, dies. The United States Marines are the finest fighting force in the world because one of their mottos is "Adapt and Overcome." America is forced now to change and that scares a lot of people. People may not like the way things are but they are comfortable in "sameness", status quo. Perhaps the scariest thing about change is that once it has began you cannot return to the way it was but not to change is to grow stagnent and die as a country.
Missing postsThis is just a note to say we are aware that some posts on the blog have disappeared, and we are investigating. My first guess is that this is a result of a server error, but it's a bit early to say. I don't know at this point how much of what we appear to have lost we'll be able to recover, but I can assure you we'll do what we can. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
McClain ~Can I ask why it's not possible for the prosecutor to do anything in this case? I mean, didn't he have an oath of office or something when he became prosecutor that said he would uphold the law and prosecute those cases that would come before him? Or did he think that living in this small community he would never come across anyone that wasn't in his party? Or that he didn't know somehow?
Finding Joy.This came to me in an email and I thought I would share with my fellow bloggers. I hope you all enjoy. James Delp
